Nerurofeedback begins with mapping your brain. Brain maps are a picture of what is going on in the brain. It shows your brains electrical connectivity. The brain map is an amazing illustration of where the brain is asking for help. This provides the valuable information for the therapist to know exactly where to begin your customized training sessions.
The training sessions are complied and then executed based on the brain map on the clients personal needs.Training sessions are very similar to taking your brain to the gym. Just as you go to exercise, training session are going to help exercise the weaknesses in your brain connectivity, to help strengthen the brain's connectivity. Training sessions will create a change in insight, awareness, behavior, and neuroplasticity.
Neurofeedback is known to help individual's regulate activity in the brain. This works toward affecting the the targeted behavior, i.e. influence sleep, mood, behavior, alertness, and attention. Neurofeedback can provide valuable information for clinicians as they seek to objectively define their patients response to pharmacologic therapy, nutritional supplementation, behavioral therapy, diet, exercise and Neurotherapy. In utilizing Neurofeedback’s brain mapping process, you will be able to see your connectivity issues in the brain along with the clinical evaluation. This will provide the targets for your treatment plan and what modalities will most benefit you.
The image above illustrates the elevated level of high beta brain waves. High Beta in elevated levels is known to be associated with high levels of anxiety and stress. High levels of stress on the brain can illicit the body’s fight or flight response which in turn can leave the body unable to function properly, sympathetic lock. Sympathetic dominance is going to lead to a high arousal level and make relaxation, sleep, and normal body functions difficult (cellular rejuvenation, ect.). Over the years in working with the clinical population, most are unaware that they are unaware. Meaning if all you have experienced is anxiety for the majority of your, life how do know what anything else would feel like. This is where the science of neurofeedback can have a very profound effect, through an expirenced clinician. Through Neurofeedback, clients are able to become aware of the neurological effects taking place and train the brain to function more efficiently.
Here is a quick snap shot of the brain map report. This is a beautiful illustration that helps the client to understand more about what exactly is going in his/her brain.
The CEC comes from a questionnaire that is around 300 questions that measures many aspects of behavior and brain function. The client can answer these questions from the comfort of his or her home.
The EEG is what brain is telling us what is going on.
This creative approach allows for a unique perspective. Most people enter into therapy with a self report of symptoms. So think the CEC is the self report, the EEG would be the brain telling us what is going on. The clinician then begins to gain both sides of the story. This is very powerful, allowing for the skilled clinician to gain access into where exact the individual needs the changes to occur. This includes brain, belief, thoughts, and behaviors. So WPHC does not take a push the button and walk off so to speak to Neurofeedback. As the persons brain begins to shift, this will change perspective and awareness. This is where Neurofeedback and a skilled clinician gains the amazing ability for the clients long term change.
WPHC also has the ability to do pre and post map assessments. The debates on how effective is neurofeedback are very muh alive and well. There are many different thoughts floating around out there on the internet about neurofeedback, both amazing and dangerous. Many people ask does work and can you mess up my brain?
There are numerous peer reviewed and scientific based journal articles on the efficacy of neurofeedback. Ethically at WPHC if it created a problem we would stop. There is no proof of an damage to be done, but in some cases of CNS disorders where you do not want to reward a frequency that might contribute to the medical condition. This is why you need to work with a provider who has specialized in Neurofeedback and continues to study the latest research and advancements.
As far as effect? WPHC has numerous life saving case studies that are simply.....miracles. Life changing experiences, the allowed people to regain their lives.
